Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell news conference is displayed on televisions while traders work on the floor at the New York Stock Exchange in New York, Wednesday, June 15, 2022. The Federal Reserve on Wednesday intensified its drive to tame high inflation by raising its key interest rate by three-quarters of a point its largest hike in nearly three decades and signaling more large rate increases to come that would raise the risk of another recession. This is the eleventh episode of The Hub’s bi-weekly series featuring Sean Speer in conversation with leading author, journalist, and thinker David Frum. The two discuss recent economic developments including growing concerns about stagflation, rising interest rates in Canada and the United States, and the collapse of cryptocurrencies.

They also touch on the primary importance of free trade and global commerce, the hard lesson that money costs money, and why political incumbents are in a lot of trouble.
