This week, Republicans gathered in Milwaukee for the 2024 Republican National Convention (RNC), pledging their support for a man who had escaped death only days before the convention commenced. This year, former president (now officially Republican candidate) Donald Trump leads a party he has built in his unique image. Gone was much of the infighting and soul searching seen in the previous two party gatherings in 2020 and 2016.
The RNC has been held by the Republican National Committee on American soil every four years since 1856 and includes delegates from all 50 states and territories. Their task is to nominate candidates for president and vice president, unify the party, and outline the campaign for the fall.
This year’s RNC featured so many moving, peculiar, theatrical, and rabble-rousing speeches—given by everyone from congress members to soldiers to OnlyFans models—that The Hub staff felt it necessary to compile key messages from a few handpicked addresses.
1. Former President Donald Trump on saving America
“The United States will be respected again. No nation will question our power. No enemy will doubt our might. Our borders will be totally secure. Our economy will soar. We will return law and order to our streets, patriotism to our schools, and importantly, we will restore peace, stability, and harmony all throughout the world. But to achieve this future, we must first rescue our nation from failed and even incompetent leadership.”
2. Former Fox News anchor Tucker Carlson on Trump’s assassination attempt
“I watched the video of what happened in Butler, Pennsylvania about 15, 50 times. I think I was one of about 8 billion people around the world who watched it. And the more I watched it, the more it struck me that everything was different after that moment. Everything. This convention is different, the nation is different, the world is different, Donald Trump is different. When he stood up after being shot in the face, bloodied, and put his hand up, I thought, at that moment, that was a transformation. This was no longer a man…I think it was divine intervention. But the effect that it had on Donald Trump, he was no longer just a political party’s nominee, or a former president, or a future president. This was the leader of a nation.”
3. Republican Vice Presidential nominee JD Vance on protectionism
“We are done sacrificing supply chains to unlimited global trade, and we’re going to stamp more and more products with that beautiful label, ‘Made in the USA.’ We’re going to build factories again, put people to work, making real products for American families made with the hands of American workers. Together, we will protect the wages of American workers and stop the Chinese Communist Party from building their middle class on the backs of American citizens.”
4. Former Governor of South Carolina Nikki Haley on the Russia-Ukraine war
“With Joe Biden as president, Putin invaded all of Ukraine. But when Donald Trump was president, Putin did nothing. No invasions, no wars. That was no accident. Putin didn’t attack Ukraine because he knew Donald Trump was tough. A strong president doesn’t start wars. A strong president prevents wars.”
5. Businessman and former Republican Party nomination candidate Vivek Ramaswamy on immigration
“Our message to every legal immigrant in this country is this: ‘You’re like my parents. You deserve the opportunity to secure a better life for your children in America.’ But our message to illegal immigrants is also this: ‘We will return you to your country of origin, not because you’re all bad people, but because you broke the law and the United States of America was founded on the rule of law.'”

6. Former Speaker of the House of Representatives Newt Gingrich on foreign policy
“A growing coalition of dictatorships is actively trying to undermine American power and conquer America’s allies. A religious dictatorship in Iran, which chants ‘Death to America,’ is on the verge of having nuclear weapons. Russia’s dictator has unleashed the deadliest European war since World War II. Communist China continues to develop its military power while actively seeking to undermine America through espionage, fentanyl, and the infiltration of our companies and our universities. Faced with these clear and present dangers, President Biden has adopted failed policy after failed policy.”
7. Donald Trump Jr. on who’s running America
“And honestly, who is actually running the country anyway? It’s obviously not Joe Biden. So who are they asking us to elect? Seriously? Who’s running things? Does anyone really know? Is it Jill? Is it Hunter? Barack Obama? Maybe it’s the ghost of Corn Pop. Whoever is running the show, the only thing they are effective at is persecuting my father.”
8. Former Trump advisor Kellyanne Conway on the new Republican Party
“If you know someone who is skeptical about the Republican Party or who is cynical about politics, don’t dismiss them. Talk to them. We win through addition, not division. In Donald Trump’s Republican Party, everyone is welcome. We have been called deplorable, irredeemable, mega-MAGA extremists, and worse, but Donald Trump sees you for who you are. You love your God, you love your family, and you love your country. In 2024, there should be no more hidden, undercover Trump voters. It’s time to put that flag on your front porch, that red hat on your head, because we don’t cave, we don’t cower, and we do not capitulate. Instead, we get up, we show up, we stand up, and we speak up.”
9. Undisputed WWF Champion Hulk Hogan on Trump-a-mania
“When I look out and I see all the real Americans, I think about how Donald Trump, his family was compromised. When I look out there and I see Donald Trump, I think about how his business was compromised. But what happened last week when they took a shot at my hero and they tried to kill the next president of the United States, enough was enough! *Rips shirt* I said, ‘Let Trump-a-mania run wild, brother! Let Trump-a-mania rule again! Let Trump-a-mania, make America great again!'”
