At The Hub, we believe in the power of hard data to understand the country’s challenges and opportunities, and to make better decisions about the issues that matter.
Our biennial audience survey, conducted by Public Square Research, is a crucial part of applying this dictum to ourselves and what we cover day in and day out for you, our readers, listeners, and viewers.
The results from our 2025 audience survey are in, and they paint a detailed picture of how you are thinking about and interacting with The Hub in its fifth year of operations. A resounding 95 percent of respondents reported being happy with what they are seeing.

The topline results indicate that you are an influential, highly engaged, and overwhelmingly supportive audience interested in centre-right commentary and analysis. The survey data also shows our awareness is growing significantly across the general population, with nearly three-in-ten (30 percent) of English-speaking Canadians aware of The Hub as a national media outlet, and fully 11 percent actively engaged with our content. Engagement is up more than double from our last survey in 2023 and is one of a series of indications of The Hub’s growing impact on the national conversation. We also beat out the competition, including Juno News, The Line, Paul Wells, and The Logic.

Who are The Hub’s subscribers?
The bywords for a Hub subscriber are influential and engaged. Geographically, our subscriber base has a strong central Canadian anchor, with half of you (48 percent) residing in Ontario, complemented by strong representation from Alberta (20 percent) and British Columbia (18 percent). This distribution has held steady since 2023.

Among our working-age members, half of you hold senior leadership roles such as principal, president, or managing director. Of this group, fully a third serve in “C-suite” roles such as CEO, COO, and CFO. You are leaders from the private sector, non-profits, and the public service (one in 10 self-identify as working for government)—the very people shaping this country’s public policy and business landscape. This tells us we are succeeding in our goal of providing content to those who build, lead, and manage in Canada.
On the political spectrum, The Hub enjoys growth on both sides of the aisle. A strong majority (68 percent) of our readers, listeners, and viewers identify as Conservatives. However, a sizable 25 (percent) are Liberals—up 13 percent since our 2023 survey. The NDP (2 percent) and Green (1 percent) and other (2 percent) supporters make up a small portion of our audience.

A forum for intelligent, centre-right analysis
The survey showed you value our thoughtful centre-right perspective, delivered “without anger.” You called us “informative”, “intelligent”, and “thoughtful”.
In terms of content, one-third of you like our analysis and news the most, followed by a quarter who prioritize our opinions and editorials. Another quarter of you are most engaged by our audio podcasts. We are gratified that 85 percent of you believe we provide the “right amount” of content each week.
The Hub’s independence matters
Your engagement goes beyond what you like to read; it is rooted in a shared set of values. When we asked what is most important to you when it comes to supporting The Hub, you pointed to three core pillars: our small ‘c’ conservative perspective, our independence as an organization, and our outright rejection of government subsidies for private media.
This trust in our model is part of a broader trend, as the data shows you are markedly more likely to trust alternative news sources than mainstream news on any platform.
How The Hub covers Mark Carney
A true community values honest feedback. On coverage, just over four-in-ten of you feel we are “not critical enough” of Prime Minister Mark Carney, though nearly half disagree. This tells us our current approach is seen as balanced by a slim majority, but it is a point we will continue to watch closely.
On a practical level, feedback on our new website was overwhelmingly favourable (93 percent). However, among the small minority who were critical, you helped us identify key pain points: the login function (45 percent), the lack of a search function (25 percent), and the continuous scroll feature (18 percent). This is invaluable operational feedback that we are already reviewing.
Taken as a whole, this survey reinforces that The Hub is a community of purposeful, influential Canadians committed to the serious work of understanding and improving this country. Sixty-five percent of you even said you strongly agree that we make you more informed about Canada. Your support, engagement, and trust fuel our mission. We are deeply grateful for your continued membership and your feedback. This data provides us with both validation and a clear roadmap. We are excited to continue building this essential Canadian forum, together.
