Liberal leader Justin Trudeau was in La Prairie, Quebec on Sunday to highlight his party’s plan for a Canada-wide daycare program, which was announced the spring budget at a price of $6 billion. The daycare spots would become available within five years.
Conservative leader Erin O’Toole was in Vancouver on Sunday to announce a plan to support parents who have experienced a miscarriage, a stillbirth or the loss of a child. The plan would extend employment insurance benefits to at least eight weeks following the death of a child, provide eight weeks of paid leave from employment in the event of a stillbirth and offer three days of paid bereavement leave after a miscarriage.
NDP leader Jagmeet Singh was in Sudbury on Sunday to promise to beef up enforcement at the CRA, pointing to a Parliamentary Budget Office report that calculates the country is missing out on $25 billion per year because many corporations pay taxes in other jurisdictions.
