Sunday Liberal leader Justin Trudeau was in Markham, Ontario on Sunday promising to make it mandatory for owners of weapons recently banned weapons to sell them back to the government or have them rendered inoperable at the government's expense. Trudeau also promised to limit the number of rounds in high-capacity magazines and offer $1 billion to the provinces and territories to ban handguns. Conservative leader Erin O'Toole was in Vancouver on Sunday promising to hire 200 extra RCMP officers to battle gun smuggling and gang activity. The officers would be based in Toronto and Vancouver. O'Toole also reversed the party's position on repealing the government's ban on what it describes as ""military-grade weapons," and now says the ban will remain intact. NDP leader Jagmeet Singh was in Ottawa on Sunday promising to launch a $1 billion program to "remove barriers" and nudge unvaccinated people to get the shot.
